Andrew Moorman baptized Nov 4, 1689 St. Peters Parish, Kent Co., Va. married unknown about 1710 (this is when he would be 21). John Moorman 25 Feb. 1754 250 acres in Anson Co., on the West side of Uoware Creek supposed (to be) three Miles above the mouth, joining the bank of Uoware River. Thomas Mooremen 25 May 1757 400 acres in Anson on the N side of Pee Dee. Benjamin Moorman 21 Oct. 1758 300 acres in Anson Co. on the S W side of Pee Dee River, joining the south branch of Rocky River opposite the lower end of Rosses Island, Walter Gibson, William Dry, and the bank of the sd river. The last will and testament of Thomas Moorman. In the name of God Amen. Know ye that I Thomas Moorman of Anson County in the Province of North Carolina being in right mind and proper judgment do this Tenth day of the Fourth month called April and in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight do make and confirm this to be my last will and testament in manner and form in following. That is I first desire that my body may be [unreadable] buried and all my just debts be paid. Thomas Moorman [seal] ANDREW MOORMAN married Catherine Robinson Andrew Moorman purchased 213 acres 4 Debr 1749 [Anson Co Quit Rents, NCGSJ May 1992] Andrew Mooreman, Junior. 4 April 1750. 300 acres in Anson Co. on the North Side of the Great Pee Dee, joining the River Bank above the mouth of Hedgecock's Creek, the side of said creek, and the sd. river. from Abstracts of Colonial Wills of Georgia-1733-1777. Andrew Moorman, his mark, St. Matthew's Parish, planter. Sons: Gideon, Corneleas, and Andrew Moorman Jr.. land I now live on, equally divided. When each arrives at age 12, shall have 1 cow & 1 calf. Eldest son Gideon, my rifle gun. Wife Cataran [Catherine] remainder of estate, real & personal, to be sold. execx. Wit; Thomas Keesee; Townsend Robinson; Saphero Robinson, her mark. dated 20 Nov. 1761; proved 6 Dec. 1762. So his children were not yet 12 in 1761 Colonial Records of Georgia Vol. IX 1763-1766 Proceeding & Minutes of the Governor and Council pg. 100 At a council held in the Council Chamber at Savannah on Tuesday the sixth day of December 1763. Present-His Exc. James Wright, etc. Read a petition of "Catherine Moorman" widow setting forth that her late husband "Andrew Moorman" had granted him in his lifetime 250 acres of land and that she was desirous to obtain an additional Tract having the Land granted her late husband in St. Matthew's Parish and Land granted Thomas Kesee-- Resolved that on condition only that the petitioner doth take out a grant for the said Land within seven Months from this date and that she doth also register the said grant in the Registrars office of this province within six months from the date thereof that his Majesty may not be defrauded of his Quit Rents Part of the Prayer of the said petition, namely One Hundred Acres is granted. (The will of Charles Robinson of Anson Co., NC names a dau. Catherine Moorman.) CHARLES MOORMAN Charles and Benjamin Moorman purchased 400 acres 4 Debr 1749 [Anson Co Quit Rents, NCGSJ May 1992]. They sold this land 200 acres of it to Andrew Moorman Mar 11, 1755. SARAH MOORMAN Sarah Moorman b abt 1738 d 1800 in Montgomery Co., NC m David Dumas; son of Benjamin Dumas and Frances Clark. This marriage probably took place in VA. I will need to check my dates for the Dumas's land transactions. David Dumas purchased 353 acres from his father Jan 15, 1753 [Anson Co Quit Rents, NCGSJ May 1992] David was in the 1762 list of Anson Co., NC tithables and also was listed in a petition of the Regulators in 1769. John Gibson 2 Nov. 1764 140 acres in Anson on the S. side of Pee Dee and on the lower side of Rocky River Opposite Edmund Lilly's Plantation joining Benjamin Moorman and the river bank. [ Hinshaw records: "Edmund Lilly rq mbrp 1748, 2, 16 Camp Creek MM, Va and dis mou 1750, 5, 21 when he married Sarah Dumas." Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin and Francis Dumas, sister to David that married Sarah Moorman] April 1777 Ord. George Andrews be overseer of road from C.H. to fork of Mask's ferry road and hands of Thos. Wade work under him, and that Henry Wm. Harrington keep road from Haley's Ferry to Chas. Medlock's with own hands; also that following hands work on road whereof Thos. Vining is overseer from Pedlar's Cabbins into road below Solomon's Creek, viz: John Webb, Wm. Haley Jr., Silas Haley, Benj. Moorman, Benj. Moorman Jr., John Moorman, Archelus Moorman, Wm. Williams, the young man who lives at Mr. Wall's, Zachariah Moorman, Wm. Lewis, Wm. Webb, Wm. Jernigan, Walter Slaughter, Richard Leake, Wm. Parmer and Wm. Wade's hands at the mill, also James Moore, Wm. Haley, Andrew Moorman, Thos. Moorman and Thos. Moorman, Jr., p. 109.
