Governor or Chief Magistrate of the State of Va. in the sum of One hundred & fifty Dollars current money of Virginia, . . . Sealed with our seals and dated this 25 day of Dec. 1809. The condition of the above obligation is such whereas there is a marriage shortly intended to be had & solemnized between the above Sashwell Jordan & Nancy Dent. Now if there be no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue. THIS INDENTURE made this twenty eighth day of September one Thousand eight hundred and twenty between Sashwell Jordan and Nancy his wife of Bedford County of the one part and Elizabeth Vannerson of said County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Sashwell Jordan and Nancy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to them in hand paid, . . . doth hereby . . . sell unto the said Elizabeth Vannerson one hundred and five [could be four] and one half Acres of land be the same more or less lying on the waters of Beaver Dam Creek in Bedford County and bounded as followeth. Beginning at Simon's corner ___?___ break on the road thence along the same as it meanders South fourteen degrees West twenty one poles South eighteen and one half degrees ______?____ four poles South ?three and one half degrees West Sixteen poles south twenty one and one half degrees East sixteen poles South twenty seven degrees East eight poles to a white oak in ?Hamp's line thence along his line South Sixty eight degrees west forty two poles to Dent's corner red Oak thence along his line North Seventy three degrees West five poles to pointer North fifty two degrees West Sixty four poles to a red oak North eighty five de- grees West thirty nine poles to a white oak on a branch thence down the said branch as it meanders to ?Albright's corner white oak thence along his line North seventy eight degrees East two hundred and eight poles to a Spanish oak at the line thence along ?Nemion's line North seventy-seven degrees east thirty nine poles to a red oak thence along ?Mador's line North two and one half degrees East Sixty three poles to a pine in ?Suncashers line thence along his line north seventy degrees West nine poles to a red oak (down) by the said line along the same as it meanders thirty three and one half degrees West thirty eight poles south twenty one degrees west twenty six poles south seven and one half degrees west ____?____ poles south Eight degrees East eleven poles to the Beginning. Witnesseth: that the Said Seth Parks and wife for and in consideration of the Sum of $500 to be paid as follows towit: $225 to be paid in money and a waggon and hand gearing at the valuation by two disinter ested men the money & waggon Last mentioned is to be paid in March now ensueing at which time the said Parks agrees to deliver possession of the premises hereby conveyed and for which the said Jordan has now executed his obligation and agrees & binds himself to execute two notes when the wagon is delivered for whatever balance may be left of the $500.
