Bedford County, Virginia Deed Book E-5 page 323: Calland to Jordan

THIS INDENTURE, made this Twenty fifth day of April in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Seventy five between Joseph Calland of the County of Cumberland of the one part and Jonas Jordan of the County of Bedford of the other part. WITNESSETH that the said Joseph Calland for and in Consideration of the Just and full sum of One hundred and fifty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Jonas Jordan the receipt whereof he the said Joseph Calland doth hereby acknowledge hath given Granted Bargained and Sold and by these presents doth give Grant Bargain and Sell deliver and Confirm to him the Said Jonas Jordan his heirs and assigns forever One Certain Tract or parcel of Land situate lying and being in the County of Bedford on both sides of the stony fork of Goose Creek Containing Eight Hundred and forty acres be the same more or less bounded as follows viz.

BEGINING at a Red Oak on George Waltons Patent line thence a new line north Seventy One degrees East three hundred and forty poles to a hickrey Bush on Condives line thence along his line north fifteen degrees East one hundred and Twenty poles to a white Oak thence a new line north Twenty Nine degrees West two hundred and fifty four poles to the Said Waltons Patent line by a Branch of the Racoon fork thence along the Patent line West One hundred and Sixty Six poles to a Red Oak South Thirty degrees West three hundred and forty poles to a Small hickry by a Branch of Jumping run South Thirty five degrees East one hundred and eighty poles to the first Station together with all and singular the priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above Sold Land and premisses with all the appurtenances unto the said Jonas Jordan his heirs and assigns forever. TO HAVE HOLD use Occupy possess and enjoy the Same with every part and parcel thereof to him the Said Jonas Jordan his heirs and assigns forever against the Said Joseph Calland his heirs or assigns forever and against the Claim and Demand of all other persons whatsoever shall and will by these presents Warrant and forever will defend. THIS INDENTURE made the Twenty forth day of August in the Year of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Six by and between Jonas Jordan of Bedford County and George Magur of the said Bedford County. Witnesseth that the said Jonas Jordan for and in Consideration of the Sum of Forty Pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand already paid by the said George Magur at and before the Insealing and Delivering of these Presents the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth clearely acquit and discharge the said George Magur his Heirs Executors and administrators and every of them by these presents hath Granted alienated Bargained Sold Released and Confirmed and by these presents doth Grant alien Bargain sell Release and confirm unto the said George Magur one Tract or parsell of Land Containing Two hundred acres more or less in the said Bedford County being part of the Tract of this said Jonas Jordans Land and Bounded as followeth to witt

BEGINING at a Corner Poplar Runing West along the old line to a Corner Red Oak thence South to a corner red oak Thence Est to a Corner Red Oak Joining the old line and thence to the first Station with all and Singular the appertenances thereunto belonging unto the said George Magur and his Heirs to the only Proper use and behoof of him the Said George Magur his heirs and assigns forever and the said Jonas Jordan for himself his Heirs Executors and administrators doth Covenant and Grant to and with the Said George Magur his Heirs and assigns by these presents that it shall and may be Lawfull to and for the said George Magur his

Heirs and assigns from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peaceably Quietly TO HAVE HOLD occupy Possess and enjoy the said premises and the right and Title of the said Jonas Jordan without any Lawfull lott Suit Trouble molestation or interuption of him the said Jonas Jordan his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns or any of them or any other Person or Persons Lawfully Claiming or to Claim in by from or under them or any of them and the Said Jonas Jordan for himself and his Heirs the Said Premisses as before intended Mentioned and Expressed unto the said George Magur and his Heirs against him the Said Jonas Jordan and his Heirs and all Claiming or to Claim by from or under them or any of them shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the Said Jonas Jordan hath hereunto set his hand and affixt his Seal the Day and Year first above Written.

THIS INDENTURE MADE this twenty third day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four Between Jonas Jordan Senr of the County of Bedford and Abraham Huddlestun of the same County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Jonas Jordan Senr

for and in Consideration of the just and full sum of One hundred and twenty pounds Current money of Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he the said Jonas Jordan Senr, doth hereby acknowledged hath bargained & Sold and these presents doth grant bargain & Sell and confirm unto the said Abraham Huddlestun his heirs and assigns forever one certain Tract or parcel of Land Situate in the County of Bedford on the Stony fork of Goose Creek containing three hundred acres more or less and bounded as followeth.

(Towit) Beginning on the brink of the bank of the Creek at Stith line upon a corner black Oak thence along Stith’s line Elboos Corner black Oak thence along Stiths line to a black Oak on Bulahs line, thence along Bulahs line to a Hicory, thence along Bulahs line to Corner Red Oak on Basham line, thence along Bashams line to a corner red oak on Cundiff’s line thence along Cundiffs line to a corner Red Oak on Absalom Jordan line thence along Jonas Jordan line to a Sorrel Wood corner on the bank of the creek thence up the main Creek to the first Station. Together with priviledges and appertenances thereunto belonging.

To have and to hold the above sold land and premises unto the said Abraham Huddleston his heirs and assigns forever of the said Jonas Jordan Senr for himself and his heirs doth covenant grant and agree to and with the said Abraham Huddleston his heirs and assigns that the said Jonas Jordan Senr the above sold land and premises unto the said Abraham Huddleston his heirs and assigns shall and Will warrant and forever Defend.
