Potter, being duly sworn by me Clerk of the county Court of said County, deposes and says that to the best of his knowledge and belief, the names of the heirs of Thomas Potter deceased are James A. Potter, Elizabeth Real and William F. Potter, his children and James F. Real, William T. Real, Mary E. Real and John H. Real, children of Jane Real deceased, who was the daughter of the said Thomas Potter and Martha Jane Shanks and Jesse B. D. Shanks, children of Huldah Shanks deceased, who was also a daughter of the said Thomas Potter: that the said Martha Jane Shanks and Jesse B. T. Shanks reside in Atchison County in the state of Missouri, and that all the otehr heirs reside in Clinton County in the State of Missouri; that the said Thomas Potter died, without a will: that he, this deponent, will make a perfect inventory of, and faithfully administer all the estate of the said Thomas Potter, and pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law direct, and account for and pay all assets which shall come to his possession or knowledge. Potter administrator of the estate of Thomas Potter deceased, being duly sworn by me, Clark of the County Court of said County, deposes and says, that the within and foregoing is a full inventory and description of all the money, goods, chattels and estate, real and personal, books, papers and evidences of debt, and of title of the deceased, and of all debts due, and becoming due, so far as he can ascertain them, except the property reserved as the absolute property of the widow, and that he was not indebted or bound in any contract to the deceased at the time of his death, except as stated in said inventory. Potter, administrator of the estate of Thomas Potter deceased, respectfully beg leave to report: That in pursuance of an order of said County Court, made at the May Term thereof A.D. 1855, I caused the real estate hereinafter described to be appraised, as required by law, a copy of which said appraisement is hereto annexed, marked "A", and made part of this report. I also gave more than twenty days notice of the time, place and terms of sale, by putting up a copy of such notice in ten public places in the County of Clinton, a copy of which said notice is also hereto annexed, marked "B", and made part of this report. And in pursuance of such notice, I did, on the sixth day of August, A. D. 1855, at the Court house door in the town of Plattsburg, in the said County of Clinton, and while the County Court of said County was in session, sell the real estate hereinafter described to the person and for the sum hereinafter stated to wit: I sold the South East quarter of the North West quarter of section No. twenty three in Township No. fifty five, of Range No. thirty: & also twenty five acres off of the West side of the South West quarter of the North East quarter of the same section, Township and Range, ontaining in all sixty five acres to James A. Potter, the said administrator, for the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars, he being the highest and best bidder for said lands. Which said sum of money will be due and payable twelve months after the day of said sale; and the same being more than thrice [two times and something else crossed out] of its appraised value.
