Transcription of Augusta County Will Book VII p. 428-430 is true to original except for highlighting.

I John Crawford of Augusta County & State of Virginia now Being weak in Body But of sound mind and Judgment Blessed be god for all his Mercies I do Make this my Last will & first I do order that all my Just debts and funeral Charges be paid and discharged

Item I give unto my well Beloved wife Rachel Crawford all my Land I now

429 Live on to have and to hold the Same while She remains my widdow then after her Marriage if I have a Living Child I give it the one half of my Lands to be Equeally devided in Quality and quantity and my wife to have the first Choice and if my wife Should remain my widdow ten years then I allow my Child if Living to have the profits of its half of the Lands to them and their heirs for ever

I give and Bequeath unto my wife Rachel Crawford all my Negroes Stock of Horses Cattles and all my House hold furniture with all my plantation tools and Utansals to have and to hold the same while She remain my widdow then at her Marriage I allow all my moveable Estate that are Left from the Maintainence of my wife and Child whether it be increased or deminished and profits of my Lands if there be any to be Equally devided Between my wife and Child and if my wife Should not marry within ten years from this date then I allow my Child to have its divide of my moveable Estate whether deminished or increased and profits of my Lands if any to them and their heirs for ever and further if I should have no living Child at twelve years from this date then I allow that part of my Estate I left my Child to be Equally devided

430 Amongst marry Rankins Six Children

I do appoint My wife Rachel Crawford Executrix of this my last will and Testament April twenty third one thousand Seven hundred and ninety one

At a Court held for Augusta County december 20th, 1791

This Last will and Testament of John Crawford deceased was presented in Court by Rachel Crawford Executrix therein in named and proved by the Oaths of Andrew Andrew Anderson, James Crawford and William Crawford witness thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the Motion of the said Rachel Crawford Executrix &c who made Oath as the Law directs a Certificate is granted her for obtaining a probate thereof in due form She having with James Crawford Robert Crawford & George Crawford her Secureties entered into and acknowledged her Bond Conditioned one thousand pound which is ordered to be Recorded
