Know all men by these presents that I John Cross of Pendleton district also State of South Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in had paid by George Rankin of the district of Pendleton and state aforesaid have granted bargained sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release onto the said George Rankin all that tract or parcel of land containing two hundred acres by estimation be the same more or less situated lying on twenty three mile creek waters of Savannah river being part of two tracts of land granted to Job Smith senior and Job Smith Junior The tract granted to Job Smith Junior was granted by his Excellency William Moultrie Governor for the time being on the first day of May anno Domini one thousand seven hundred and eighty containing one hundred and forty four acres the part intended hereby to be granted to begin at a given corner of Twenty Three mile creek on Benjamin Smiths line thus along said line untill it interescts John Wilsons line thence along said line until it strikes the waggon road leading from Wilsons ferry to Rankins Mill thence down said road untill strikes the opposite line where it crosses the road thence along said line to a maple corner thence up the creek to the beginning the part in the deed

hereby to be granted out of the tract granted to Job Smith senior by his Excellency Benjamin Gault governor for the time being on the 15th day of October one thousand seven hundred and eighty four containing sixty acres be the same more or less to begin on a red oak at the side of the water of William Rankins mill pond, from thence along a conditional line untill it strikes the waggon road aforesaid thence up said road untill it strikes the above tract thence along said line to the creek thence down the creek to the beginning. Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtinances hereunto belonging or in anywise Incident or appurtaining To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said George Rankin his heirs and assigns for ever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors administrators to Warrant and defend all and singular the said premises unto said George Rankin his heirs and assigns against myself my heirs and against any other person or persons whosoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any party thereof witness my hand and seal this ninth day of October anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and seven and of the Independence of the united states of America the thirty first and thirty second signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us

Pendleton district } the district aforsaid do hereby certify onto all whom it may concern that Nancy Cross wife of the within named John Cross did this day come before me and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily and without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever renounce release and forever relinquish unto the within named George Rankin his heirs and assigns all her interest and estate and also all her right and claim of dower of in or to all and singular of in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned or released given under my hand and seal this 9th day of October 1807.

Memorandum

That on the ninth day of october in year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven before me John Wilson one of the Justices of the Quoram for the district of Pendleton personally came John Agnew and being duly sworn said on oath sayeth that he did see John Cross sign seal and as his act and deed deliver the within deed unto George Rankin for the use and purpose thence mentioned and did also see Peter McMahan and Moses Carrell subscribe their names as witnesses with himself to the same sworn to and subscribed the year and day above written.

133 George Rankin of the aforesaid district have granted bargained sold and released and by by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto said George Rankins his heirs and assigns forever all that plantation or tract of land containing one hundred and sixty eight acres be the same more or less being part of two tracts one containing one hundred and twenty acres granted to Brittain George on the second day of January in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven situate lying and being in the district aforesaid on a branch of the twenty three mile creek waters of savannah river and hath such shape form marks buttings and boundings as a plat to the original grant doth represent the other forty eight acres being part of a tract of land granted unto Hugh Warnock situate and being adjoining SW on the above mentioned land and was granted by a deed by said Warnock unto Margaret Blair and by her to William Blair and by him to John Wilkinson and by him to Brittain George and by said Brittain George together with the first described tract of one hundred and twenty acres to Andrew Oliver Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise incident or appurtaining To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said George Rankin his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and defend all and singular said premises unto said G. Rankin his heirs and assigns against myself my heirs and against every other person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof Witness my hand and seal this ninth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven and of the Independence of the united States of America the thirty first and second.
