Acy Floyd

Acy

Acy (Asa) Floyd, born July 4, 1855 in Spalding County, Georgia, was 20 years old when he married the 16 years old Mary Caroline McLeroy December 16, 1875. The marriage information provided by daughter Elna Starr says they married "at home" in Pike County; presumably she meant Mary's parent's home.

Acy was a farmer and one can trace their movements by the birthplaces of their children:

(Twins) Eddie Aaron and Henry Joe b. July 6, 1877 in Pike County. H. J. died October 19, 1877 Pike Co.

Barto Floyd b. March 6, 1879 in Pike Co. d. May 9, 1879 Pike Co.

Sophronie Elna b. October 12, 1880 in Pike Co.

Tonnie (Tommie) Oliver b. May 26, 1884 in Spalding Co. d. September 17, 1885 Pike Co.

James Ernest b. April 28, 1887 in Spalding Co.

Acy Steward b. February 20, 1890 in Clayton Co.

Jessie A. b. Sept 18, 1892 in Clayton Co.

Nettie May b. August 20, 1895 in Clayton Co. d. March 7, 1896 Clayton Co.

Kimsey Mack b. December 12, 1896 in Clayton Co.

The children who died in Pike County were buried in a family burying ground there. Acy died February 28, 1899 in Clayton County and Mary died October 30, 1902. Both are buried in the Mann Family burying ground. After Mary's death, the youngest children were kept together through the combined efforts of Elna and James E.

Daughter Elna Starr was one who provided the information found in Asa Floyd.pdf. She thoughtfully wrote the requested information into a tablet. Then, keeping the pages intact, sent the tablet to her "Uncle Willie."
